Idiots, real idiots !
I couldnt just leave this unsaid so i thought ill come and say it quickly..
Today i had my first exam which was English so it didnt need any studying since its only a written timed essay and a reading comprehension.. but first of all let me give you a brief history..
My whole life was spent in london, english schools, english education. So my english is not good, its PERFECT ! infact, i still hav trouble talking in arabic (waid badleyaat).
Secondly, in my uni Eng.101 is a credit course and anything higher than that is a credit course, anything lower is a non credit course. So begining of the year i do this test on the computer which tells me which english i get put in to. GUESS WHAT !? they put me in Eng.087 !! i mean hellooooooo ?? my first language is english you idiots ya3nii why the hell put me in a non credit course which teaches you english grammer and what a sentence is ?!? offcourse i went to complain, i told the teacher who teaches me who sent me to the dep. head who then sent me the the head of the english department. Ummm mako fayda ! they just said we cant do anything, just do better in your next exam to go to 101.
Now i was furious, i went on with this course, the teacher told me not to always answer cuz i knew all the answers he even made me write essays that were of a higher level than the actual course..
Now i did GCSE's, A-levels, TOEFL and SAT's and achieved good marks in all of them ! and so today i had that exam thing again and the way it works is that is gives you your grade right after you finish the exam, it prints it out on the screen and you print it.
Essay is out of 12 but the pass grade is 9.
Reading comprh. is out of 120 but the pass grade is 110. (if you pass you go to Eng.101)
Today i got 8 and 119 !! which is GOOD !! im only 1 mark away on my essay which is kinda unfair cuz a computer is marking it, i find that stupid !! even with these grades, they still put me in Eng.090 !! a non credit course..
my teacher saw it and he was SURPRISED !! seriously so surprised. he looked at me and said no way no way your going to Eng.090, come to my office after the exam and im gonna see what i can do and put you up to Eng.101..
but i was still angry, how could they do that. do they really think im gonna waste 2 semesters doing a non credit course. Oh and i forgot, i cant register for all courses (excluding math, arabic and CSIS) depend on Eng.101. I have to do Eng.101 to be able to register for other courses..
Isnt this so unfair, first they put me in a course which has all 7ukuma students in it (not trying to sound mean, but my english is obviously waaaay better) then they still dont put me up !
well, seems i wasnt the only one at his office at 1PM, there were about 15 students all coming to complain and so after a 3 hour meeting between the teachers, my lovely teacher came out and told everyone to come baq 2moro to know if they could be moved up or whatever they wanted..
he told me to stay behind and guess what !! Im going to ENG.101 :) :) :) im so happy..
anyways, i got that out of they way, now i can go to study for my CSIS exam on tues :)

computers can grade essays just fine i mean he gave me a 10/10 when i did mine a couple of years back :r so course its good !
lol well i dunno what you did in the first test bes you musta really been messing around to get dropped to a class like that :p
Hmmm why not just give them your TOEFL or SAT scores to bypass the placement test?
phew! thank god ur finally in eng 101! i was soo angry while reading ur post lol it's sooo unfair!!! especially that you'd have been wasting your time and energy on a non-credit course!!! but i admire you for fighting back :D zain sawetay
and Tat, she can't do that! kuwait university believe that their placement test is waaay better than toefl and Ielts lol

hehe la i wasnt messing around bSs they didnt tell us it would choose what class to put us in so i got a 12 in my essay and like 100 and something in the reading cuz i was rushing it..
bss my grades were still good enough for eng 101, theyr stupid thats why i complained..
Tat i did, i had to give it to them to be accepted in uni..
ya KU sucks, it wasnt on my choice list. i dont really like it that much !

and 7bebty, me not in KU id never go to that place, me in AUK ;p
